The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded its highest annual growth in the renewable energy mix, increasing by 2% in just one year, bringing the total share to 16.1%. Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi, stated that this achievement is already aligned with the targets set in the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN) and the PLN Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025–2034, which require a 15.9% energy mix by 2025. The largest contribution came from hydropower plants, adding 500.2 MW, with the Batang Toru Hydropower Plant in North Sumatra—expected to begin operations by the end of this year or early next year—projected to supply more than 500 MW.
Additional contributions to the energy mix came from solar power plants (233.3 MW), geothermal plants (105.1 MW), and bioenergy plants (37.8 MW). Outside the electricity sector, significant progress was also seen in transportation through the mandatory biodiesel blending program (B40), which, as of September, reached 10 million kiloliters, or 64.7% of the 15.6 million kiloliter target. According to Eniya, the government will continue to explore other renewable energy potentials in future planning to further strengthen Indonesia’s energy mix.
