The domestic sports equipment industry continues to demonstrate positive development and contribute to national economic growth. Based on the National Industrial Information System (SIINas) data from 2025 and Indonesia Statistic (BPS) data from 2024, there are currently 128 business units in the sports equipment industry in Indonesia, with a total workforce of 15,663 people. The distribution of small and medium-sized sports equipment industry centres (IKM) extends across Central Java, East Java, West Java, Riau, North Sumatra and Bali. The Ministry of Industry is actively promoting the sports equipment industry ecosystem to boost its performance and global competitiveness. At present, Indonesia is ranked 24th in the world in terms of its contribution to sports product exports. In 2024, the value of Indonesia's sports equipment exports increased by 4.6% compared to the previous year. The country's main export destinations include the United States, South Korea, Japan and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, based on Euromonitor and Ken Research, the domestic market value of local sports equipment products reached IDR 2.3 trillion.
The government is encouraging the implementation of the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) in this sector to strengthen competitiveness. Currently, there are 36 sports equipment manufacturers with products that meet the Domestic Content Level (TKDN), ranging from futsal balls, footballs, rackets, tennis tables, and rock climbing panels. Based on data compiled by the Ministry of Industry, there are 13 sports products that have already obtained Domestic Content Level (TKDN) certificates, including basketballs, volleyballs, shuttlecocks, nets, and educational aids. Furthermore, the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) value of these products reaches up to 66%, demonstrating a strong commitment to local content. Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry has also provided various forms of support, ranging from assistance for Small and Medium Industries (IKM) centres, facilitation of machinery and equipment, certification, as well as promotion and exhibitions.
