Under President Prabowo Subianto's leadership, Indonesia has introduced a comprehensive economic stimulus package aimed at fostering sustainable growth, enhancing public welfare, and reducing unemployment amid global uncertainties. Unveiled on September 15, 2025, the package comprises eight accelerated initiatives, four ongoing programs, and five workforce empowerment measures. This follows a previous IDR 24.44 trillion (approximately USD 1.5 billion) stimulus in May 2025, which focused on direct financial aid such as wage subsidies, transportation discounts, and food assistance.
The new package shifts focus toward long-term economic resilience and community empowerment. Key components include an internship program for 20,000 recent graduates, monthly stipends equivalent to the provincial minimum wage for six months, and expanded income tax exemptions for 552,000 workers in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Additionally, IDR 7 trillion in food assistance will be distributed as 10 kilograms of rice per household during October–November 2025. The package also offers a 50% discount on work accident and death insurance contributions for 731,361 non-wage workers, including freelancers and logistics personnel, for six months. Furthermore, housing loan interest rates have been reduced, and deregulation efforts are underway to streamline business licensing processes. These measures aim to stimulate job creation, improve public welfare, and create a more conducive investment climate.
