On 17 September 2025, 7 tonnes of ground coffee worth nearly USD 49,000 or IDR 753 million were shipped from EL's Coffee Roastery in Lampung to Hong Kong. This export constitutes a strategic initiative to enhance the added value of local flagship products, specifically robusta coffee. The event also marked the inauguration of the coffee production facility and an examination of the coffee processing process, from roasting to packaging. This export activity demonstrates the transition of export products from raw materials to processed goods.
The downstreaming of coffee products that produce these export commodities has demonstrated its economic value, creating jobs, increasing farmers' incomes, and expanding opportunities for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Lampung ranks as the largest producer of robusta coffee in Indonesia, with a production share of over 30% of the national total. The region is poised to emerge as a centre of coffee innovation in Southeast Asia. The downstreaming of coffee products is considered key to maintaining competitiveness and expanding export markets.
