At the BRICS PartNIR 2025 forum in Xiamen, China (September 15–17), Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Industry, Faisol Riza, held a bilateral meeting with Russia’s Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, Aleksei Vladimirovich Gruzdev, to deepen industrial collaboration between the two countries. The discussions focused on cementing previously agreed memorandums of understanding (MoUs), especially in shipbuilding. They also explored cooperation in supporting infrastructure for industry—such as nuclear power, gas production, and rail networks in Indonesia—as well as increasing the supply of fertilisers from major Russian producers like Uralchem, Uralkali, and PhosAgro.
Beyond bilateral projects, Indonesia emphasised its broader strategic commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven industrialisation as part of its national plan. Under its new Industrial Strategy (SBIN), Indonesia is pushing for value-added processing of raw materials (like nickel, copper, and bauxite), green industrial practices aiming for net zero emissions by 2060, digital transformation via Making Indonesia 4.0, and strengthening human capital to meet global competitiveness. Indonesia also signalled its readiness to be a partner country at INNOPROM 2026 in Russia—part of a push to internationalise its industry, attract tech partnerships, expand exports, and reinforce industrial resilience.
