On 12-14 September 2025, the West Sumatra Creative Economy Festival (SCF) was held at the Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPwBI) in West Sumatra Province. The SCF recorded transactions of up to IDR 1.9 billion and was attended by 1,456 visitors. The objective of the event was to promote and develop the creative economy in West Sumatra. In addition, SCF is expected to strengthen the ecosystem and encourage sustainable and inclusive creative economic growth in the region. This initiative is consistent with the DAUN (Dari Nagari Untuk Negeri) framework, which was initiated by KPwBI West Sumatra as a commitment to promoting economic growth through the empowerment of Nagari Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM Nagari).
SCF is a strategic regional programme that aims to strengthen synergy, explore potential, and identify innovative solutions to drive economic growth and accelerate the digital financial economy. The Head of Bank Indonesia's West Sumatra Representative Office, Mohamad Abdul Majid Ikram, emphasised the potential of UMKM Nagari to become the driving force of the regional economy. He noted that unique products based on local wisdom could not only preserve cultural identity but also increase income, generate employment, and facilitate market penetration at both the national and international levels. This year's SCF provided a valuable opportunity for product education, introducing the new QRIS Tap feature and facilitating business matching for West Sumatra's flagship products, including chocolate, rendang, anchovies, instant seasonings, crackers, and chips. By July 2025, QRIS transactions in West Sumatra had reached over 31.8 million, totalling IDR 3.8 trillion. Meanwhile, the business matching activities have recorded potential export transaction commitments amounting to USD 86,493 or equivalent to IDR 1.41 billion.
