Indonesia’s automotive industry is showing strong performance in the export market, even as domestic car sales continue to face challenges. According to the latest data, completely built-up (CBU) vehicle exports reached 47,849 units in May 2025, a sharp 38.3% increase compared to April. This marks the highest monthly export figure recorded during the first five months of the year. Cumulatively, from January to May 2025, CBU exports grew by around 7% year-on-year, rising from 179,857 units in 2024 to 192,501 units this year.
The completely knocked-down (CKD) segment also experienced remarkable growth. In May 2025 alone, CKD exports surged to 7,502 sets, representing a 184.2% increase compared to April and an impressive 362.5% jump year-on-year compared to May 2024. For the January–May period, CKD exports rose 28.7% compared to the same period last year, highlighting growing demand for Indonesian-assembled vehicle parts abroad. Automotive component exports followed a similar upward trend monthly, climbing from 8.7 million pieces in April to 12.08 million pieces in May, a 38.5% increase. These trends highlight strong international demand, making exports a key driver for Indonesia’s automotive industry.
