At the Wonderful Indonesia Business Matching event, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana promoted Indonesia as a premium tourist destination for South Korean tourists. It is estimated that this initiative will generate 5,250 foreign tourist visits, with a potential foreign exchange of USD 7,266,000. In this promotional mission, the Ministry of Tourism carried out the "Go Beyond Ordinary" campaign. The range of premium tourism experiences offered includes wedding and honeymoon destinations, with the main destinations being Bali, Sumba, and Labuan Bajo. Notable diving destinations include Raja Ampat, Wakatobi, Labuan Bajo, Morotai, and Manado-Likupang. The golf destination is experiencing significant growth, with golf courses in Batam, Bintan, Bali, and Jakarta frequently hosting competitions that offer world-class services. Furthermore, wellness tourism is also offered as part of premium tourism promotion. Indonesia boasts a rich variety of local health and fitness practices, from traditional massages and spa rituals to holistic healing practices combined with modern hospitality, such as Ubud (Bali) and Yogyakarta.
The Minister of Tourism also invited South Korean investors to explore investment opportunities in Indonesia's wellness tourism industry. The wellness industry is no longer a niche segment, but is now considered to be a premium experience with high economic growth potential. According to the Global Wellness Institute, in 2023, the global economic value of the wellness industry will reach USD 6.32 trillion. It is anticipated that this industry will experience a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.44% until 2029. This indicates that the market size will approach USD 10 trillion. Furthermore, many of Indonesia's wellness traditions and practices are recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. In addition, investment opportunities are offered in various other tourism sectors, including eco-tourism, marine biodiversity, culture and health. The Sanur Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Bali is a prime example of this, offering quality medical and health tourism experiences.
