On 8 September 2025, PT KAI, through its subsidiary KAI Services, initiated a new strategic partnership with the Ministry of Trade. This event commenced in Jakarta. During the meeting, the two parties discussed an expo programme entitled UMKM Goes to KAI as an initial trial. The expo will be held at Gambir Station and on KAI Services-managed dining trains. The Director of Consumer Business at KAI Services, Lies Permana Lestari, welcomed the expo plan positively. The event has been designed to introduce and market micro, small, and medium enterprise products directly to train passengers.
Furthermore, Nyoman Suardhita, Manager of Corporate Communication at KAI Services, stated that the collaboration between the Ministry of Trade and KAI Services is expected to raise the profile of KAI Services as a company that supports micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah/UMKM) by offering UMKMs products on dining trains. MSME products such as Ciomy Cuanki have been successfully sold and are currently among the most popular culinary items among passengers during their train journeys. The UMKM Goes to KAI programme is expected to facilitate direct interaction between UMKMs and consumers. KAI Services will monitor this pilot project as a basis for developing similar programmes at other strategic stations.
