Indonesia Targets Export Market Following Domestic Production of Ventilators and Anaesthesia Machines

On 8 September 2025, the Director of Marketing and Finance of PT Graha Teknomedia (GTM), Febie Yuriza Poetri, stated that GTM is ready to export ventilators and anaesthesia machines, manufactured in Indonesia. These products are domestically manufactured in collaboration with Mindray Medical International Limited, a multinational corporation based in China. Moving forward, it is anticipated that this collaboration will be seamless, secure a substantial market share, and attain national health security, with the prospect of exporting once domestic requirements are met. At present, GTM is in the process of expanding its domestic market, with a focus on targeting government and private hospitals. GTM aims to achieve a production capacity of 500-1,000 ventilators and anaesthesia machines per year, with a view to expanding further annually in line with demand. By mid-2025, approximately 300 ventilators will have been successfully produced, while anaesthesia machines are only in the early stages of launch.

GTM has invested IDR 10 billion to expand its electromedical production facilities, testing equipment, and human resources. Furthermore, a new 300-square-metre facility has been specifically prepared to meet international standards. This strategic initiative aligns with the government's policy objective of fostering the growth and competitiveness of the domestic medical device industry. In addition to reducing imports, which currently account for around 70% of the market, Indonesia has the potential to become a significant player in the global medical device market. Indonesia's medical device imports are predominantly sourced from Europe, the United States, Japan and China. It is therefore vital that domestic production is increased to reduce reliance on imports. Since 2022, domestic medical device production has increased by more than threefold. This has had a positive impact on the growth of the local medical device industry, employment, national health security, and reducing the deficit caused by import spending.
