Indonesia’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have delivered a strong export performance from January to August 2025, achieving business-matching export transactions worth USD 90.90 million—around IDR 1.49 trillion. Of this amount, USD 55.95 million were firm purchase orders (POs), while USD 34.95 million represented potential future transactions. The successes stem from the “UMKM BISA Ekspor” (MSMEs Dare to Innovate, Ready to Adapt to Export) program by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), under which 462 business-matching events involving 110 MSMEs across sectors such as fashion, crafts, furniture, coffee, spices, and processed food were held.
Officials credit the export gains to robust collaboration among the government, trade representatives abroad, development institutions, and business actors. Kemendag vows to broaden market access and deepen support with focused assistance in certification, logistics, and financing. They also emphasise inclusive empowerment—offering dedicated business-matching opportunities for women entrepreneurs, with monthly sessions connecting them with trade representatives from countries like Switzerland, Hungary, the UK, and Malaysia
