Indonesia’s Trade Ministry is aiming to finalise a free trade agreement (FTA) with Gulf countries by the end of the year. If achieved, this deal is projected to boost Indonesia’s economic welfare by approximately USD 258.4 million and increase the country’s exports to the Gulf region. Meanwhile, the Ministry has reiterated this year-end target repeatedly over recent months.
The move reflects Indonesia’s strategy to bolster trade ties and diversify its export markets. Securing a swift agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council could yield timely economic gains, particularly by promoting access for Indonesian goods in the Gulf. The initiative underscores Jakarta's proactive efforts to enhance regional trade partnerships and strengthen its economic resilience.
