Expanded, Hang Nadim Airport is Prepared as a Hub-Logistics Area

Hang Nadim Airport, which is managed by the Batam Concession Agency (BP), has a very strategic value as a gateway for air transportation in the business and trade sectors. This is because the Batam region is a free trade zone (Free Trade Zone). Head of BP Batam Muhammad Rudi said the Hang Nadim Airport area will be designed to be a logistics hub area that will improve the economy and industry in Batam City.

"Therefore, the construction and expansion of the cargo building is also an important step in supporting this," said Muhammad Rudikata Muhammad Rudi, Wednesday (20/1/2021). Muhammad Rudi continued, the construction of Taxiway and Apron 04 at Hang Nadim International Airport was prepared as a Logistics Hub. "This morning we are at Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam, to be precise at the Cargo Apron which has a length of 500 meters and a width of 168 meters. The new cargo apron can accommodate 5 large aircraft, namely the Boeing-777 aircraft. "We are building this airport to prepare at any time to become an airport that is not only for passengers, but can also be a logistics hub," said Rudi during an inspection of the airport.

In this year, Rudi also said that a cargo terminal would be built in a multiyear manner which will be completed in 2022. "Because we have already planned the future development so that it becomes an airport that is really in demand, not only nationally, but also internationally," he said. Therefore, to meet international qualifications, we must complete all infrastructure needs and today we have completed Taxiway and Apron 04, Not only that, the handling system will also be updated to the latest system using an automatic system. In terms of volume, although the number of existing cargo volumes at Hang Nadim Airport is below the estimate in the 2018 Master Plan study, the volume of air traffic at Hang Nadim Airport in Batam has experienced a rapid and significant increase from year to year, both passengers and cargo. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, cargo services at Hang Nadim Airport continued. Currently, the Hang Nadim Airport cargo building has a size of 80 m x 32 m and the next plan is to build a cargo terminal / building with a building area of ± 9,600 m².

The Batam Concession Agency (BP) has completed the construction of Taxiway and Apron 04 in the Hang Nadim International Airport area, Batam, Riau Islands, by the end of 2020. This Cargo Apron was built to support the Cargo Building to increase Batam's competitiveness, which is projected to support Batam's Hang Nadim Airport to become the West Indonesian Hub-Logistics Airport.

Construction of this cargo apron has been carried out in 2020 by Contractor Nindya Karya and Supervision Consultant Yodya Karya with a contract value of Rp166,529,321,385.73; with a time of 158 calendar days of work and a maintenance period of 180 calendar days. Apart from Taxiway and Apron 04, BP Batam is also building drainage, access roads, electricity, grass, and fences around the site. Furthermore, in 2021-2022, BP Batam will build a cargo terminal / building, with the cost of the construction work sourced from BLU BP Batam Fiscal Year 2021 with a value of ± IDR 105,015,734,000. Muhammad Rudi, also said, according to future plans, BP Batam has two big plans, namely developing Hang Nadim airport and developing Batu Ampar Port and other ports. "This is our priority in leading BP Batam, because we think these two things will greatly help the economy of the people of Batam and Indonesia," concluded Muhammad Rudi.
