The Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), through its Trade Attaché in Moscow (Atdag RI), has successfully facilitated a potential essential oils export deal to Russia valued at approximately USD 123,400—or around Rp 2.01 billion. This opportunity emerged following outreach efforts to participants of the Global Ingredients Show in Moscow (15–19 April 2025), leading to a request from the Russian company Kema Club—operating in cosmetics, fragrance, and food & beverage ingredients—for samples and Free-on-Board (FoB) pricing. Fourteen types of Indonesian essential oils—including patchouli, lime, rosemary, vetiver, and ylang-ylang—have been selected for testing, and samples were delivered on 10 July 2025. The Atdag RI in Moscow will continue to nurture the communication until a formal agreement is reached.
This initiative underscores Russia as an underutilized yet promising market for Indonesian essential oils. In 2024, Russia's total essential oil imports were USD 3.16 billion, but only USD 215,000—or less than 1%—came from Indonesia. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s global essential oil exports reached nearly USD 990 million that year. The current development signals significant room for growth. Should this transaction materialize, it would strengthen Indonesia's position as a key global supplier of high-quality essential oils and could lead to deeper trade engagement with Russia moving forward
