Exports of Indonesian Snack Products Reach Côte d'Ivoire

In Q2 of 2025, Indonesia's food and beverage industry grew by 6.15%. These figures demonstrate the significant growth and potential of Indonesia's food and beverage industry. In comparison to the national economic growth rate of 5.12%, the sector has demonstrated significantly higher growth. The Ministry of Industry has observed that the food and beverage sub-sector has been the primary contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the non-oil and gas processing industry, accounting for 41% of the total. Furthermore, Indonesian food and beverage products are becoming increasingly prominent in the export market. As of May 2025, exports from the food and beverage industry reached USD 18.59 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 13.14 billion. Furthermore, investment in the food and beverage sector also grew significantly to IDR 53.17 trillion in the second quarter of 2025. Foreign investment was recorded at IDR 18.97 trillion, while domestic investment was IDR 34.19 trillion.

The latest achievement was seen on 28 August 2025, with Indonesian snack food manufacturer PT URC Indonesia officially exporting 10 container trucks filled with biscuits and snacks to the Côte d'Ivoire, Africa, from Cikarang Dry Port. This export shipment is an important example of how Indonesian products can expand their market reach to Africa. The Ministry of Industry has noted that there are currently more than 100 biscuit companies in Indonesia, with an installed capacity of 1.72 million tonnes and a utilisation rate of 62%. Indonesia is now ranked 11th among global biscuit suppliers, contributing 3.59%. Exports of Indonesian biscuits have shown consistent growth, reaching USD 443 million in 2023, marking a 4.5% increase compared to 2022 figures. The government is encouraging the food and beverage industry to reduce its reliance on imported raw materials, encouraging the use of sago flour as a substitute for wheat flour. Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry has prepared a range of incentives to provide support, including tax allowances, super deduction tax for product research and machine restructuring.
