Tax Revenues from the Digital Economy Exceed IDR 40.02 Trillion

As of July 2025, the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance recorded that tax revenue from the digital economy sector had reached IDR 40.02 trillion. The tax revenue figures include Value Added Tax on Electronic Trading (PPN PMSE) at IDR 31.06 trillion, tax on crypto assets at IDR 1.55 trillion, and fintech peer-to-peer lending (P2P) tax at IDR 3.88 trillion. Furthermore, tax collected by other parties through the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP) totals IDR 3.53 trillion. The Director of Outreach, Services, and Public Relations at the Tax Directorate General, Rosmauli, stated that as of July 2025, the government had appointed 223 companies as PPN PMSE collectors. In July 2025, the government appointed three new companies, namely Scalable Hosting Solutions OÜ, Express Technologies Limited, and Finelo Limited. Concurrently, the government also revoked the appointment of three PMSE VAT collectors, namely Evernote GmbH, To The New Singapore Pte. Ltd., and Epic Games Entertainment International GmbH.

Out of all the appointed tax collectors, 201 PMSEs have collected and deposited PPN PSME with a total of IDR 31.06 trillion. This amount consists of deposits of IDR 731.4 billion in 2020; IDR 3.9 trillion in 2021; IDR 5.51 trillion in 2022; IDR 6.76 trillion in 2023; IDR 8.44 trillion in 2024; and IDR 5.72 trillion in 2025. According to Rosmauli, tax contributions from the digital economy sector are showing a positive trend, with growth recorded in PPN PMSE, crypto tax, fintech tax, and SIPP tax. This will not only strengthen the fiscal capacity but also establish a level playing field between conventional and digital businesses. The introduction of digital tax is an adjustment to the collection mechanism, with the aim of making it more practical and efficient for businesses.
