Banking Performance Remarks, Indonesian Economy Resilient

The positive performance of the banking industry, one of the pillars of the Indonesian economy, is resilient amidst global economic uncertainty. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk affirmed its commitment to maintaining healthy business growth throughout 2025. This is in line with the maintained performance of banking intermediation and national economic resilience. According to Ari Rizaldi, Director of Treasury & International Banking at Bank Mandiri, the Indonesian economy demonstrated strong resilience amidst global dynamics until the second quarter of 2025. "This is inseparable from the banking industry's intermediation function, which demonstrated moderation with credit growth of 7.03% year-on-year (yoy) in July 2025," Ari said in an official statement on Friday (August 29, 2025).

Banking Third Party Funds (TPF) also grew steadily at 7% yoy. This pushed the banking industry's Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) to 86.5%, reflecting stable liquidity conditions in the banking industry. Evidently, the wholesale credit growth of the bank codenamed BMRI grew 15.8% yoy until May 2025. This achievement is far above the industry average of 8.43% yoy growth in the same position. "KPR (Home Ownership Loans) also grew 14.2% yoy. Meanwhile, the retail segment rose 8.95% annually, in line with industry trends," he explained. In terms of credit quality remains maintained, with the NPL (Non-Performing Loan) ratio of only 1.06% on a bank-only basis in the same period, lower than the industry average. He emphasized that Bank Mandiri will continue to maintain healthy growth and prioritize the principle of prudence. "This is to remain resilient in facing various economic cycles and market dynamics," said Ari. Broadly, Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 5.12% (yoy) in the second quarter of 2025, an increase compared to the previous quarter at 4.87%. Bank Mandiri Chief Economist Andry Asmoro added that household consumption remains the main driving force, driven primarily by the Eid al-Fitr and school holidays.
