The Bangka Belitung Islands Province Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag) and the Indonesian Ministry of Trade introduced three textile products from Bangka Belitung small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through a virtual business pitch event with the Indonesian Trade Representative in Bangkok, Thailand. The three SMEs participating in the event were Sepiak Belitung, Batik Kampung Katak, and Tanahwari, showcasing batik, ecoprint, and dotting-based fashion designs. Agus Setio Rini, Head of the Trade Facilities and Export Development Division of the Bangka Belitung Department of Industry and Trade, stated that this event is an important opportunity for businesses to expand their export markets. "Currently, Bangka Belitung's export value is quite high until June 2025, but no textile products have been exported. We hope that textile products can also become part of Bangka Belitung's exports in the future," Agus said on Sunday.
Jerry, the Indonesian Trade Representative in Bangkok, stated that Thailand is a trendsetter in fashion products and is now opening up to the Muslim fashion market. He added that Thai people enjoy brightly colored designs, floral motifs, and the stories behind the products. Meanwhile, Irma, a representative from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, stated that her office is ready to facilitate follow-up business pitches by exploring collaboration opportunities with fashion stores in Thailand. "During the event, each business owner presented their flagship products. Sepiak Belitung showcased a collection of hand-drawn batik, stamped batik, and ecoprints managed by deaf individuals. Batik Kampung Katak introduced fabrics, ready-to-wear clothing, pajamas, and zero-waste products. Meanwhile, Tanahwari showcased fashion designs using the dotting technique that emphasizes history, art, and clothing values. With their unique product characteristics, it is hoped that Babel SMEs will be able to penetrate export markets, particularly in Thailand, and internationally.
