Sinar Mas, through PT DSSR Daya Mas Sakti (DSSR) – an indirect subsidiary of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) – has formed a joint venture with PT FirstGen Geothermal Indonesia, a subsidiary of Energy Development Corporation (EDC), which is part of First Gen. President Director of PT DSSR Daya Mas Sakti and Deputy Director of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk, Lokita Prasetya, stated that this agreement signifies more than just an investment – it is a strategic collaboration with EDC to transfer knowledge and expertise in geothermal development in Indonesia. This cooperation aims to strengthen national capacity and utilise the potential of geothermal energy to provide clean energy, as well as to deliver tangible benefits for the community, economy and environment.

Focusing on the development and management of geothermal resources, with a total potential of around 440 megawatts, the project will be spread across six strategic areas: West Java, Flores, Jambi, West Sumatra and Central Sulawesi. Sinar Mas Managing Director Ferry Salman has expressed his hope for government support to maintain a competitive business climate in this sector. In order to develop this sector, close collaboration between the government, the business sector, and the surrounding community is required. This collaboration is expected to yield significant benefits for all parties. This partnership is a joint effort to strengthen Indonesia's energy transition. By combining EDC's global capabilities and DSSR's strong local presence, this collaboration is poised to develop projects, build capacity, and transfer knowledge, with the goal of making a long-term impact on Indonesia's renewable energy sector.
