In a strategic move to boost both trade and humanitarian services, Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade announced a USD 12 million agreement with Saudi Arabia’s 4J Company Limited. The memorandum of understanding, signed on August 23 in Jeddah, paves the way for PT Halalan Thayyiban Indonesia to supply halal-certified, high-quality ready-to-eat meals for Indonesian pilgrims during Hajj 2026. The Ministry views this deal as an indicator of Indonesia’s elevated role in Hajj logistics and a vital driver for economic growth through export expansion.
Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General of National Export Development, emphasized the collaboration's dual purpose: ensuring dietary needs of Hajj pilgrims are met, while also serving as a catalyst for increasing Indonesia’s exports particularly to Saudi Arabia. The Ministry is evaluating broader opportunities for exporting beyond food and beverages, signaling an ambition to elevate Indonesian products across multiple sectors in the Saudi market.
