The Fish Quarantine, Quality Control, and Fishery Product Safety Agency (Barantin) is intensifying fish meal and oil exports to China through on-site assessments held from August 25 to 30, 2025. The visit by a delegation from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), led by Deputy Director of Guangzhou Customs Wang Chunxia, included an opening meeting in Jakarta and field inspections of processing companies in West Java, East Java, and Bali. This step aims to review quality assurance, biosecurity, and product safety systems before export access is officially opened.
Drama Panca Putra, Deputy Director of Fish Quarantine at Barantin, stated that 15 companies in the fish meal and oil sector are ready to export to China and have been deemed to meet GACC regulatory standards, including product safety and quality. This collaboration not only reflects trust between institutions but also opens opportunities for expanding market access for Indonesian fishery product exports. For the record, Indonesia's fishmeal exports in 2024 reached USD 725,000, with primary destinations being Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, the United States, and the Netherlands.
