Indonesia's exports of animal fats and oils including edible fats and related derivatives to Albania fell to USD 4.4 million in 2023. This marks a 6.3% decline from the previous year's USD 4.7 million, signaling a downward trend in a category that had shown steady growth over the past decade.
Despite the decline, the bilateral trade between Indonesia and Albania remains modest, but highlights new opportunities for market diversification. Experts suggest that expanding into niche segments such as specialty fats used in niche culinary and industrial applications could help reverse the trend and bolster export value. Enhancing industry competitiveness through value addition, improved logistics, and targeted marketing could pave the way for renewed export momentum to European markets like Albania.
