Acting Director for Southeast Asia at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, emphasized that growing global awareness of halal products has positioned Indonesia to take a leading role in the trillion-dollar global halal industry. Speaking at the “Halal Indonesia Go Regional” forum in Surabaya, Meidiwaty highlighted that Indonesia's vast domestic Muslim market and the rising global demand for halal goods create a significant competitive advantage for the country.
With the global halal market including sectors like food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and Islamic finance projected to reach USD 3.27 trillion by 2028, Indonesia is emerging as a key player poised to capitalize on this growth. The Ministry underscored the importance of expanding the Halal Industrial Park network, such as the Halal Industrial Park Sidoarjo, enhancing certification infrastructure, and strengthening diplomatic outreach. Coordinated efforts across government, industry, and academia are deemed essential to effectively promote Indonesian halal products overseas and turn aspiration into economic impact
