In a significant move toward boosting their roles in the expansive global halal market, Indonesia and South Korea are enhancing cooperation across the halal product ecosystem. During his visit to Seoul on August 13, 2025, Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), underscored that their partnership extends beyond mere trade—it aims to foster mutual trust and cultivate a forward-looking, inclusive halal ecosystem. His presence at the 2025 International Halal Seminar and the 70th anniversary of the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF) marked a pivotal moment in what he described as "bilateral halal diplomacy.”
High-ranking industry figures from South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and organizations like SMIIC joined the seminar, underlining its international relevance. Hasan emphasized the need for deeper collaboration to unlock economic opportunities—calling for harmonized certification standards, specialized training for halal auditors and slaughterers, and a boost in Indonesian halal exports to South Korea.
