Minister of Trade Budi Santoso held a virtual bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabian Minister of Trade Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi. The two ministers discussed trade performance and strengthening cooperation to enhance the economic potential of both countries. Busan, familiarly known as Busan, stated that Saudi Arabia is an important trading partner for Indonesia. He also expressed a positive response to the need for increased trade cooperation. "Indonesia has a trade representative in Saudi Arabia who can bridge the relationship between Saudi Arabian and Indonesian business actors," Busan explained in a statement on Monday (August 25th). Busan continued, stating that total trade between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia still has room for further development. Busan hopes that increased trade can be realized in the future. Some steps that can be taken include visits by business delegations and participation in trade exhibitions.
In 2024, Saudi Arabia was Indonesia's 18th export destination and 12th import source. In the first half of 2025, total trade between the two countries was recorded at USD 3.2 billion, with Indonesian exports reaching USD 1.7 billion and imports reaching USD 1.5 billion. Meanwhile, in 2024, total trade between the two countries reached USD 6.6 billion, with Indonesian exports valued at USD 2.6 billion and imports at USD 4.4 billion. Indonesia's main export products to Saudi Arabia include motor vehicles, palm oil, light vessels, sauces and their derivatives, and iron pipes. Meanwhile, imports from Saudi Arabia include crude petroleum oil, non-crude petroleum oil, petroleum gas, acyclic alcohol, and sulfur. Busan expresses that many ways can be explored to strengthen trade relations, one of which is through business delegation visits, as Indonesia has done recently.
