Until 25 August 2025, the Java Coffee and Flavours Fest (JCFF) 2025 is being held in Old Town Surabaya, East Java. JCFF 2025 is the largest coffee festival in East Java, showcasing a variety of Indonesian coffee products and highlighting the potential of premium chocolate and spices such as cloves, pepper, and nutmeg. The event is participated in by 40 micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) in the coffee, chocolate, and spice sectors, and serves as a platform for promoting premium commodities. The Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in East Java, Ibrahim, stated that the JCFF 2025 achieved a total partnership value of IDR 55.8 billion, including IDR 33.7 billion from trade agreements and IDR 22.1 billion from business matching financing. This figure is significantly higher than last year's total of approximately IDR 30 billion. The initial target of IDR 50 billion for JCFF 2025 has already been surpassed.
This achievement, which exceeded expectations, demonstrates the high level of public enthusiasm for the continuously evolving coffee trend. Indonesia is one of the world's top four to five coffee producers, along with Vietnam, Colombia, and Ethiopia. Production disruptions in competitor countries present an opportunity to expand Indonesia's global market, given the country's relatively competitive coffee tariffs. Bank Indonesia East Java recognises the strength of East Java's food sector and highlights the region's significant potential for further development in plantation activities. Approximately 50% of Java's coffee production originates from East Java, and the region also possesses considerable potential in the production of chocolate and spices, which contribute significantly to national demand. Bank Indonesia, in collaboration with its partners, is encouraging farmers to enhance their roasting capabilities and post-harvest processing techniques.
