Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) shows that the number of Completely Built-Up (CBU) car imports in July 2025 reached 15,092 units, a 42 percent increase from the previous month's 10,606 units. Furthermore, when compared year-on-year with July 2024, the figure rose 45% from 10,358 units. Similarly, the January-July 2025 period also saw a significant increase to 76,755 units, a 50% increase from the 50,932 units recorded in the same period last year. The July 2025 import figure was the highest in the first seven months of the year. In fact, it experienced the most significant increase compared to previous months.
Looking back at the beginning of the year, the growth in CBU imports of four-wheeled vehicles was quite volatile. There was a 38% increase from January to February 2025 to 12,502 units from 9,031 units. Then, it declined in March and reached its lowest point in April 2025, with imports at 8,965 units. Then, since May, the figure has been creeping up again, from 9,319 units to 10,606 units in June, reaching a peak of 15,092 units in the seventh month of 2025. BYD is a major contributor to complete vehicle imports. In July 2025, BYD Motor Indonesia imported 9,570 units, including BYD and Denza brands. Meanwhile, during the January-July 2025 period, the company received 39,468 units shipped from China to Indonesia. Toyota ranked second, importing 18,673 units from January-July 2025. Mitsubishi followed with 8,525 units and Suzuki with 5,543 units.
