On 20 August 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture exported agricultural commodities with a total export value of IDR 1.135 billion from Sleman to three destination countries. Exports to Saudi Arabia included 9.8 tonnes of cashews, valued at IDR 433 million; 10 tonnes of evaporated milk, valued at IDR 459 million to Dubai; and 9 tonnes of fresh chilli peppers, valued at IDR 243 million, to Japan. This shipment represents the fifth export of the year. During the course of 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture successfully completed four export shipments. These include an export worth IDR 6.9 billion in Tabanan, Bali; IDR 1.1 billion in Kulonprogo; IDR 1.3 billion in Temanggung Regency; and IDR 5.3 billion in Bengkal, through the Merah Putih Village Cooperative in collaboration with millennial farmers.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono, who launched the export, stated that the younger generation has the potential to pursue the agricultural sector, which can become a profitable industry through innovation and knowledge. Furthermore, the Head of the Agricultural Human Resources Development and Extension Agency (BPPSDMP) at the Ministry of Agriculture, Idha Widi Arsanti, stated that food agriculture, food security, and Indonesia as the world's food basket are major agendas that continue to be promoted. It is vital to acknowledge the significance of the transformation of agriculture towards modern agriculture. Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture, through BPPSDMP, has trained over 300,000 young farmers across Indonesia. Of these, more than 180,000 have been beneficiaries of the Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Support Services (YES) programme. Additionally, approximately 1,400 individuals have achieved an annual turnover of IDR 100-500 million, with some even reaching turnover in the billions of IDR. The Ministry of Agriculture also implements the Production Cost Price (HPP) and Maximum Retail Price (HET) mechanisms to ensure farmers' welfare and protect consumers.
