BI records E-Commerce Transactions Reaching IDR 44.4 Trillion as of July 2025

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded continued growth in transactions on e-commerce platforms, reaching IDR 44.4 trillion, or 2.32% year-on-year (yoy) in July 2025. "The nominal value of e-commerce transactions also grew, month-to-month (mtm) by 6.41%, and year-on-year by 2.32%, or IDR 44.4 trillion," said BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta at the August 2025 BI Board of Governors Meeting (RDG) on August 20th 2025. With this transaction value, the average transaction value was around IDR 95,000 per transaction. Not only in nominal terms, transaction volume also increased, growing by 6.64% (mtm) and 16.89% (yoy), or 466.93 million transactions. In general, the performance of digital economic and financial transactions in July 2025 remained strong, supported by a secure, smooth, and reliable payment system. In terms of transactions, digital payments increased across all components, growing 45.30% year-on-year (yoy) to reach 4.44 billion transactions. 

In line with the increase in the number of users and merchants, the volume of mobile applications and internet transactions increased by 26.07% year-on-year (yoy) and 12.68% year-on-year (yoy), respectively. This included a significant growth of 162.77% year-on-year (yoy) in digital payment transactions through QRIS. In terms of infrastructure, the volume of retail transactions processed through BI-FAST grew 37.56% year-on-year (yoy), reaching 414.62 million transactions, with a value of IDR 1,016.48 trillion throughout July 2025. The volume of large-value transactions processed through BI-RTGS was recorded at 959,320 transactions with a value of IDR 19,791.94 trillion throughout July 2025. Meanwhile, in terms of rupiah currency management, currency in circulation (UYD) grew 9.68% year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 1,141.83 trillion in July 2025. BI Governor Perry stated that BI will continue to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of the Bank Indonesia Payment System (SPBI) infrastructure, both retail and wholesale, as well as the industry payment system infrastructure.
