In an effort to bolster exports of high-quality local products, the Indonesian Ministry of Transmigration recently conducted an outreach and socialisation event in the Cahaya Baru transmigration area of South Kalimantan. The goal of the initiative is to raise awareness among local producers about export potential and to support them in developing goods that can compete globally. The event emphasises the unique advantages of regional agricultural products—specifically highlighting citrus fruits, oyster mushrooms, and rice—as having strong potential for international markets.
By engaging communities in Cahaya Baru—a key transmigration region—the ministry aims to nurture entrepreneurship and elevate the economic value of regional produce through export readiness. The session likely included guidance on standards, packaging, market requirements, and possibly connections to trade networks, setting the stage for enhanced participation of local livelihoods in global trade. This aligns with broader provincial efforts, as seen in South Kalimantan’s participation in international trade missions, where curated SMEs and stakeholders—including exporters and foreign trade partners—help showcase regional products to the world.
