PT Albaraka Internasional Group, a Malang-based MSME, recorded its first export of sea shell operculum worth USD 5,500 (approximately IDR 82 million), shipped in a full 20-foot container to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Head of Malang Customs and Excise, Johan Pandores, stated that this initiative affirms his institution's commitment to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in penetrating overseas markets. This product has unique commercial value: it is used in incense production and as a preservative for fragrances such as shisha, particularly in the Middle Eastern market.
The export launch ceremony was filled with enthusiasm, marked by the breaking of a jug as a symbol of renewed enthusiasm. The event was attended by representatives from the East Java and Malang Regency Departments of Industry and Trade, demonstrating inter-agency collaboration in supporting the export of regional creative products. This success paves the way for Malang MSMEs to improve quality, pursue certification, and penetrate a wider global market.
