Bank Sulselbar held the 2025 Export Workshop titled "Proudly Local, Ready for the World" on August 19th at the Hyatt Hotel Makassar. This event was designed to empower MSMEs from South and West Sulawesi to "upgrade" to become exporters. Dwi Zulkarnain, Director of Credit & MSMEs at Bank Sulselbar, emphasized that while local products, from agriculture and fisheries to processed culinary products to fashion and crafts, are globally competitive, the main challenge is understanding export mechanisms, from regulations and certification to logistics.
As part of this strategic effort, Bank Sulselbar included speakers from key agencies such as Makassar Customs, the Makassar Export Center, and the Fisheries Quarantine Office to provide practical insights on export procedures. The main goal was not only to transfer knowledge but also to build the confidence of MSMEs so they can open up international markets. It is hoped that this workshop will encourage the emergence of new exporters from the Makassar region, who can promote regional economic sustainability and MSME independence.
