Targeting the Global Market, Indonesia Ready to Showcase Local Games at Gamescom 2025

Indonesia is ready to showcase its talents at the world's largest gaming exhibition, Gamescom 2025, to be held in Cologne, Germany, on August 20-22, 2025. The Indonesian Ministry of Trade emphasized this participation as a strategic step to accelerate the national gaming industry's leap into the global market. Indonesian Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, emphasized that this momentum serves as an important platform for Indonesia to showcase its creative potential. "The Indonesian gaming industry has grown rapidly in recent years. Gamescom 2025 is a strategic platform to showcase Indonesia's potential to the world. We are committed to supporting developers to penetrate the global market, expand exports, and make Indonesia a significant player in the international gaming industry," he said in a press release on Monday (August 18th, 2025). Indonesia will be present with a showcasing the work of 10 selected game studios, including Agate, Digital Happiness, Busy Beaver Studio, Gambir Studio, and Lapakgaming. In addition to the exhibition, the Indonesian delegation has scheduled 222 business meetings through the MeetToMatch app to open up strategic collaboration opportunities with international partners.

The Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, emphasized that this participation is not just about promotion, but also a long-term strategy. "This participation is not just about promotion, but also an opportunity to build long-term collaborations with global strategic partners. Indonesia's participation in Gamescom 2025 marks its third since this prestigious exhibition was established in 2009. This year, Indonesia joins 72 other countries with more than 1,500 participants. This presence also demonstrates cross-institutional collaboration, including the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, and the Indonesian Game Association (AGI). The global gaming industry is projected to reach USD 397.21 billion in 2029. The German market, as the host, is projected to grow from USD 5.35 billion in 2024 to USD 6.95 billion in 2027.
