The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, discussed MSME market access to the American market with the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, at the Kadin Tower on Tuesday (August 19th). Anindya stated that the momentum following the new tariff negotiations presents a significant opportunity to encourage increased two-way trade and investment. "We discussed a lot, from how to leverage investment and trade opportunities between the two countries to enhancing the role of MSMEs and cooperatives. The Ambassador was very supportive and even offered many excellent new ideas," said Anindya. He added that strengthening MSMEs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was a priority in the discussion. He stated that Kadin has also been communicating with various associations in the US, from importers of cotton, wheat, and soybeans to textile, garment, footwear, electronics, and furniture associations, to expand Indonesian exports.
Meanwhile, Indroyono Soesilo stated that one of President Prabowo's mandates is to strengthen Indonesia-US economic relations, particularly by increasing investment. "In addition to conventional diplomacy, we will promote joint programs with Danantara, Kadin, and the private sector. Kadin's role is crucial, especially in developing MSMEs and the capital city, which are numerous. Coincidentally, in the US, there are SBA and SBC that we can connect with Kadin," he added. He said the signing of the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023 provides an umbrella for cooperation that can be utilized across various sectors. He believes there are significant opportunities ahead of the G20 meeting in the US in 2026, which is expected to yield various business contracts. He hopes that the B20 activities in the US next year can open up broader cooperation. With Kadin's support, we can make this initiative a concrete manifestation of Indonesia Incorporated.
