Plastic household products produced by PT Benteng Mas Persada (BMP) recorded their first export to Guyana, valued at USD 23,000, or approximately IDR 374 million. The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) launched the first export in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday (August 15th, 2025). A total of 4,432 products, including plates, bowls, glasses, buckets, and jars, were shipped, with a total volume of 70 cubic meters (cbm). The Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, assessed that this export demonstrates the potential for opportunities in non-traditional markets. "Indonesian household products are able to meet the demand of buyers from Guyana. This success is not only a company achievement, but also a real contribution to diversifying Indonesia's export destinations," she said in an official statement on Saturday (August 16th, 2025). According to her, Guyana is a potential market that can strengthen Indonesia's position in the South American region.
He also commended BMP for consistently maintaining product quality, design innovation, and adherence to international standards. The President Director of PT BMP, Melinda Wijono, added that her company is committed to providing high-quality, competitive products in the global market. "With government support, we are optimistic that we can expand our market, increase our competitiveness, and strengthen Indonesia's position in the international market," said Melinda. Data from the Ministry of Trade shows that total trade between Indonesia and Guyana in the first half of 2025 reached USD 2.7 million, a 46.20% increase compared to the same period last year. Indonesian exports to Guyana grew significantly by 62.25% to USD 2.7 million. Household appliances and plastic furniture (HS 392410) from Indonesia have been entering the Guyana market since 2022.
