On 17 August 2025, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day, Jembrana Regent Kembang Hartawan and Vice Regent Patriana Krisna launched the export of 2 tonnes of fermented cocoa beans produced by the Kakao Kerta Semaya Samaniya (KSS) cooperative to the Netherlands. This shipment marks the ninth export from KSS since 2017. The cocoa exports from KSS will be consolidated with products from Papua and Sumba before being shipped to the European market. The Jembrana Regent expressed his appreciation to the Director of the Cocoa Bean Trading Company, Mr. Dejan Borislavjevic, and all the cocoa farmers participating in the KSS programme. Furthermore, the Regent of Jembrana is optimistic that exports will increase in both quantity and quality.
At the same event, the Chairman of KSS, I Ketut Wiadnyana, also expressed gratitude to the Jembrana Regency Government for the IDR 1.5 billion in assistance received by the cooperative. This assistance was used to purchase 120 tonnes of wet cocoa beans from KSS member farmers. Alongside the launch of exports, the Regent of Jembrana also inaugurated a solar dryer facility with a capacity of 1 ton, funded by Ghent University. It is anticipated that this facility will enhance the quality of local cocoa bean processing prior to export.
