Government Targets 14.2% Investment Increase to IDR 2,175 Trillion in 2026

The government, through the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), has set a national investment target of IDR 2,175.26 trillion in 2026. This figure represents a 14.2% increase compared to the 2025 target of IDR 1,905.6 trillion. Investment Minister and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, stated that the target was determined based on calculations by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). He emphasised that this ambitious target remains realistic as it follows the trend of increasing investment over the past decade. "The 2026 target set by Bappenas for us is IDR 2,175.26 trillion, or a 14.2% increase from the previous year," Rosan said at a press conference regarding the 2026 Draft State Budget and Financial Note in Jakarta, quoted on Sunday (August 17).

Rosan explained that national investment achieved from 2014 to 2024 has exceeded IDR 9,900 trillion. This demonstrates consistent growth despite various global challenges. In the medium term, the government is targeting an accumulated investment of IDR 13,032.8 trillion for the 2025–2029 period. According to Rosan, achieving this target is expected to strengthen the economic structure and accelerate the transformation towards industrial downstreaming. "In the next five years, investment is expected to increase sharply, reaching IDR 13,032.8 trillion by 2029," he said. Meanwhile, realised investment in the first half of 2025 reached IDR 942.9 trillion. This figure represents a 13.6% increase compared to the same period last year, while also employing 1,259,868 people. Rosan explained that investment contributions during this period came from domestic investment (PMDN) of IDR 510.3 trillion, or 54.1%, and foreign investment (PMA) of IDR 432.6 trillion, or 45.9%. Downstream investment is a major contributor, with IDR 280.8 trillion realised in the first half of 2025. The government expects this trend to continue as the development of natural resource-based industries in the country accelerates.
