Batam's Batu Ampar Port has now emerged as a strategic export gateway for processed coconut products from the Riau Islands. In the inaugural shipment, witnessed by the Head of Quarantine for the Riau Islands, Herwintarti, 54 tons of coconut milk and 27 tons of coconut water were exported to China, valued at IDR 1.8 billion. This initiative demonstrates the downstreaming of leading agricultural products and is part of the "Go Export" program implemented by Barantin Kepri to strengthen international trade in local commodities.
According to Barantin Kepri data, from January to August 2025, the export volume of agricultural products in the region reached 10,997 tons with a value of IDR 191 billion, a 21.2% increase compared to the same period the previous year. These processed coconut exports strongly demonstrate that even regions with limited resources can become export hubs if supported by local food synergy, quality certification, and appropriate market access.
