The Ministry of Trade officially launched the first export of plastic household appliances, produced by PT Benteng Mas Persada (BMP), to Guyana, valued at USD 23,000 (approximately IDR 374 million), from Surabaya on August 15, 2025. This initial export included 4,432 types of products, ranging from plates, bowls, glasses, buckets, and jars, with a shipment volume of 70 cubic meters. The Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated that Indonesian household products have proven their ability to enter markets previously considered less strategic, such as Guyana, with stable demand from the household, retail, and hospitality sectors.
This success is not only a company achievement but also an important signal that Indonesia is starting to seriously expand into non-traditional countries. The total value of Indonesia's exports to Guyana in the first half of 2025 was recorded at USD 2.7 million, a growth of approximately 62% compared to the same period the previous year, demonstrating the potential of the South American market, which deserves further exploration. Puntodewi hopes this step will inspire other exporters to explore new markets and strengthen the national export diversification strategy to increase the competitiveness of domestic products.
