Dubai Sees Collaboration Opportunities with Indonesian Businesses in Various Sectors

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), a leading international business district that drives global trade flows through Dubai, sees key opportunities to collaborate with Indonesian businesses and attract investment in sectors such as energy, agri-food, technology, and the Islamic economy. DMCC itself has completed its inaugural Made For Trade Live (MFTL) roadshow in Jakarta, strengthening the economic partnership between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia. "We strive to consolidate our position as the preferred trading hub for Indonesian companies in Dubai, deepen trade corridors with Jakarta, and expand business connectivity in key sectors ranging from energy and agri-food to technology and the Islamic economy," said DMCC Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Bin Sulayem in an official statement in Jakarta.

Bilateral non-oil and gas trade grew from USD 3 billion in 2020 to USD 5 billion by 2024. Meanwhile, foreign investment from the UAE has initiated major new projects in strategic sectors, ranging from renewable energy to high-tech infrastructure. The UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, H.E. Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri, expressed his honor to participate in the inaugural MFTL event in Jakarta. The event was organized through a collaboration between DMCC, the UAE Embassy in Jakarta, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). He remains steadfast in his commitment to strengthening partnerships with Indonesia in the areas of trade, investment, and innovation. At the event, DMCC announced a 13% increase in the number of Southeast Asian companies in the business district over the past 12 months, including more than 30 companies from Indonesia. The roadshow brought together more than 150 Indonesian business leaders and government stakeholders to explore how the DMCC can serve as a strategic platform for Indonesian companies seeking global expansion.
