The province of Maluku, through PT Kabong Tanipala Maluku, has released its first export of 9.5 tons of nutmeg to the Netherlands, as part of efforts to expand the market for Maluku's native spices to the high-purchasing-power European market. The exported products include ABCD nutmeg, Shrivels nutmeg, and broken mace. PT Kabong Tanipala Maluku has established collaborative relationships with numerous agencies to ensure shipments meet international quality standards. The expansion of market access to Europe is anticipated to result in increased selling prices and farmer income. Additionally, the distribution chain will become streamlined.
It is anticipated that this export will also stimulate the local economy, from the upstream plantation sector to the downstream transportation and trade sectors. The Ambon Customs Office is committed to providing the best facilities to enable Maluku products to compete in the global market. This export demonstrates the successful collaboration between agencies in order to enhance the competitiveness of local commodities. The regional government aim to consolidate the position of nutmeg as the region's flagship commodity.
