On August 13, 2025, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas launched an Intellectual Property (IP)-based financing program for MSMEs during the opening of IPXpose Indonesia 2025 at SMESCO Jakarta. The initiative allows IP certificates—such as trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and copyrights—to be used as collateral for bank loans. This breakthrough aims to strengthen the creative economy, which in 2024 contributed IDR 1,500 trillion to Indonesia’s GDP and employed 26.5 million workers. The launch was supported by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which has collaborated with Indonesia on a National IP Strategy, MSME mentoring, and batik protection projects.
Indonesia also introduced the Jakarta Protocol, a digital platform for international royalty management, and aims to lead ASEAN in Geographical Indication registrations by the end of 2025. The IPXpose series, held from August 13–16, features IP Talks, business matching, workshops, and exhibitions under the theme “Elevating Indonesia’s IP to the World”. The Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law, represented by Andi Yulia Hartati, expressed support and encouraged local entrepreneurs to register their IP as a valuable future investment.
