On 11 August 2025, the President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, held a state meeting with the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta. During the meeting, the Indonesia-Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IP-CEPA) was signed. According to the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, the agreement will emphasise several key export commodities from Indonesia to Peru, including textiles, motor vehicles, footwear, and refrigeration equipment. To date, the total trade volume between Indonesia and Peru remains modest, standing at approximately USD 480 million, with Indonesia maintaining a surplus of USD 181 million. The IP-CEPA aims to increase Peru's trade capacity by over 30%. Implementation of the IP-CEPA agreement is a phased process, with the possibility of adding new commodities to the agreement as and when Indonesia wishes to increase exports of such items.
