Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) has officially begun mass production of its two newest models, the Hyundai STARGAZER Cartenz and STARGAZER Cartenz X. Both vehicles are designed and manufactured in Indonesia, specifically to meet consumer needs and local road conditions, while also being prepared for global market penetration. This follows their public launch at the recently concluded Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. The name "Cartenz" is taken from Puncak Cartenz, Indonesia's highest peak, symbolizing Hyundai's vision to continuously set high standards in comfort, design, and technology. "The mass production of the STARGAZER Cartenz and Cartenz X demonstrates Hyundai's commitment to delivering vehicles that truly meet the needs of Indonesian customers. In the future, these models will also enter international markets," said Bang Hyun Chul, President Director of HMMI, at the inauguration ceremony at the Hyundai factory in Cikarang. Both models are equipped with Hyundai SmartSense, a suite of advanced safety technologies including Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Surround View Monitor, and Blind Spot View Monitor. The Cartenz X, in particular, features enhanced comfort with Shift-by-Wire transmission, electrically adjustable seats, ventilated seats, and a functional cabin layout.
Both the STARGAZER Cartenz and Cartenz X are equipped with Bluelink, which allows owners to remotely access the vehicle via smartphone. The company involves local suppliers as part of its national industrialization strategy, strengthening Indonesia's automotive ecosystem. With an investment of approximately USD 1.55 billion until 2030, this plant has an initial production capacity of 150,000 units per year and 250,000 units per year at full capacity. Since 2022, this facility has produced vehicles for the domestic market and exports to the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, South and Central America, and Mexico.
