President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the signing of the Indonesia-Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IP-CEPA) between Indonesia and Peru as an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. This was conveyed during a joint press conference with the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (August 11, 2025). "I warmly welcome the signing of the Indonesia-Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement will expand market access and increase trade between the two countries," said Prabowo.
The head of state also highlighted the extraordinary achievement of the CEPA negotiation process, which was completed in just 14 months, significantly faster than the average length of similar negotiations, which typically take years. "Usually this takes years, but we managed to finalize this agreement in just 14 months," he added. Furthermore, the 8th President of Indonesia stated that cooperation between Indonesia and Peru will be expanded into various strategic sectors. One of them is e-commerce. "We agreed to cooperate in the fields of food, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense," he said. During the bilateral meeting, the two heads of state also discussed the latest global conditions and their commitment to strengthening regional partnerships. "I conveyed that Indonesia is ready to support the partnership between ASEAN and Peru. We also expressed our appreciation for Peru's leadership in hosting the 2024 APEC Summit," Prabowo concluded.
