The medical device industry in Central Java continues to show promising growth, both in terms of production, innovation, and collaboration with universities. This was conveyed by Agus Mardiyanto SE, MM, Chair of GAKESLAB Central Java, in an interview with the media on the sidelines of the IndoHealth Care & GAKESLAB Expo 2025 held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. "Currently, GAKESLAB Central Java has around 170 member companies. Several of them are already producing innovative, high-standard medical devices, both for domestic use and export," said Agus. Several regions in Central Java have developed into medical device production centers. For example, the cities of Solo, Semarang, Demak, and Kendal already have members producing electromedical devices, while Jepara, Pati, Brebes, and Pekalongan as production of disposable medical devices such as masks, gloves, gauze, and other single-use medical supplies. "Many products made in Central Java are now exported, including to Korea.
Agus emphasized that the key to the advancement of the local medical device industry lies in the ability to combine research, technology, and market needs. Therefore, partnerships with higher education institutions are a crucial strategy for encouraging the development of new, applicable innovations. Although GAKESLAB Central Java has not yet held a major exhibition independently, Agus explained that promotional and educational activities are ongoing through collaborations with the Ministry of Health and other parties. Some of these activities are carried out through exhibitions in Semarang and other strategic locations in the province. "GAKESLAB Central Java is ready to support national initiatives to strengthen the domestic medical device industry, including through active participation in national-scale exhibitions such as IndoHealth Care 2025," he concluded. The IndoHealth Care & GAKESLAB Expo 2025 exhibition itself is a strategic platform for medical device industry players from various regions to showcase superior products, and build business networks.
