Border Synergy, Motaain PLBN Increases Export-Import Efficiency Between Indonesia and Timor Leste

The Motaain Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in Belu Regency, under the leadership of Maria Fatima Rika, S.STP, held a crucial meeting with Indonesian and Timor-Leste Customs and Excise officials to strengthen cross-border logistics cooperation. During the discussion, the Indonesian government outlined its strategy for strengthening the Vehicle Declaration (VHD) system. They emphasized the need for education so that Timor-Leste citizens can complete the VHD document independently to reduce the risk of delays and administrative sanctions when crossing the border. This vehicle declaration is regulated by Minister of Finance Regulation No. 52/PMK.04/2019 as part of the customs service protocol at the cross-border post. Meanwhile, representatives from the Timor-Leste delegation responded to complaints from Indonesian exporters who frequently experience restrictions on the tonnage of exported vehicles. According to them, this issue has been submitted to the Ministry of Transportation in Dili through the National Directorate of Terrestres Transport (DNTT) and is currently awaiting an official decision.

Yonathas Mau Buti, Head of the Cross-Border Service Facilitation Sub-Division, representing the Head of the Motaain PLBN, expressed his appreciation for the open communication between the two parties and the institution's readiness to continue supporting the flow of goods and people in the border region. "The Motaain PLBN is fully committed to supporting the smooth flow of goods and people in the border area. With intensive communication and coordination between Indonesia and Timor-Leste, we are optimistic that cross-border services can continue to improve," he said. Similarly, the Head of the Motaain PLBN, Maria Fatima Rika, emphasized that this meeting was the foundation for building trust and mutual understanding between the two countries. The meeting concluded with a commitment to jointly disseminate information on customs procedures and to maintain synchronization of export-import policies between Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
