Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza revealed that Indonesian-made alcoholic beverages (MMEA) have significant export potential. Currently, several countries, including Taiwan and Russia, are showing interest. This export potential and the resulting demand stem from promotional efforts for MMEA at the Salon International de l'alimentation (SIAL) in Paris in 2024. "We successfully recorded a potential export transaction of USD 620,000. Many countries, including Taiwan, Germany, the UK, France, and Russia, are interested in importing materials and MMEA products," Faisol said at the opening of Specialty Indonesia at the Ministry of Industry office in South Jakarta on Monday (August 4th).
MMEA is a sector that contributes significantly to excise and exports. In 2024, excise from MMEA reached IDR 8.8 trillion, while exports reached USD 17.32 million. Regarding exercise, the MMEA contribution also increased from the previous year, reaching IDR 7.74 trillion in 2023 and IDR 7.76 trillion in 2022. To improve the quality of MMEA products, the Ministry of Industry has established MMEA product quality standards and issued Ministerial Regulation No. 19 of 2024 concerning Procedures for Issuing Technical Considerations for the Import of Alcoholic Beverage Raw Materials. According to him, this regulation provides several supports, such as the opportunity to import alcoholic beverage raw materials to guarantee domestic raw material availability, expanding innovation, and improving the quality of Indonesian MMEA products.
