The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Investment/BKPM officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (AmCham Indonesia) on Wednesday (July 30th). Minister of Investment and Downstream Investment/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani stated that this MoU will strengthen technical cooperation to support investment facilitation in Indonesia, especially for US companies that have or intend to invest in Indonesia. "Indonesia welcomes the commitment of various global companies that are members of the US-ABC and AmCham delegations, such as Citi, Pfizer, Boeing, ExxonMobil, GE Healthcare, Cisco, BowerGroupAsia, and Philip Morris International," Rosan said in his official Instagram post on Saturday (August 2nd, 2025). He explained that throughout 2024, the total trade value between the two countries reached USD 38.6 billion, equivalent to Rp 637.4 trillion. This figure recorded an 11.5% growth compared to the previous year.
In terms of investment, the US ranked among the top 5 sources of foreign investment in Indonesia, reaching USD 3.70 billion (IDR 61.09 trillion), a 12.8% increase from 2023. In the release of investment realization for the first half of 2025, the United States also ranked sixth with an investment value of USD1.56 billion (IDR 25.76 trillion). "The US-Indonesia Investment Report 2024 published by AmCham noted that American companies invested USD 67 billion, or approximately IDR 1,094 trillion, in Indonesia from 2014 to 2023," he explained.In addition to emphasizing US investment achievements in Indonesia, Rosan stated that collaboration between US and Indonesian companies would play a crucial role for both countries. Therefore, his office is actively pushing for regulatory reforms to create a more conducive investment climate. "This collaboration reflects the US business community's confidence in Indonesia's future, including our ongoing downstreaming and economic transformation agenda," Rosan concluded.
