Vegetable farmers from Majalengka Regency have gained access to export to Malaysia and Singapore, following the issuance of export permits after a series of administrative preparations and quality compliance measures. The Regent of Majalengka, who attended the Affordable Food Movement event, announced that several local horticultural commodities such as Chinese cabbage, water spinach, and chili peppers—have been shipped to international markets. This step serves as concrete evidence that the local agricultural sector can compete on a global level, especially with regulatory support and technical assistance from the local government.
This export success also marks an important milestone in the economic transformation of rural Majalengka. Support for local farmers through quality training, certification, and market access is seen as playing a key role in promoting inclusivity and equitable economic growth. This new export market is expected not only to increase farmers' incomes but also to create job opportunities and strengthen the horticultural supply chain in West Java.
